Being and Belonging:
A Community Care Retreat for Therapists & Healers
October 23rd -26th, 2025
A weekend retreat for therapists craving community & connection
Thurs Oct 23-Sunday Oct 26th, 2025
Maple, Wisconsin (near Duluth)
Join us for a weekend of deep community building on the shores of Lake Superior!
We’ll frolic in the Northwoods, dip our bodies in Mother Superior, rest hard and deeply, savor delicious food, lift our voices in song, and create sacred community together.
Let’s shake off our pretense and talk about the real stuff - how this work gets lonely, on a soul level, when we’re holding so many hearts and stories without space for our own.
This retreat is for therapists and healers who are craving deeper connection — not just casual networking or a quick “hi” between sessions, but real relationships with people who get what it means to do this work.
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering “How did this work get so lonely?”, or “I don’t know if I can keep doing this without community” - this retreat is for YOU.
Time to rest.
Time to be in nature.
Time to be in community - without the pressure to perform, pretend or produce.

Meet the Team

Sarah Lazarewicz (she/her), LICSW
Retreat Leader, Somatic Trauma Therapist
Hello, I’m Sarah!
-I’m a licensed social worker, a fellow therapist, and have been running my own private practice since 2022. I graduated with my MSW in 2016 and have been a full time therapist since 2018.
-I’ve experienced first hand how isolating and weird this world of running a private practice can be, and how exhausting and overwhelming it can feel to do it alone.
-I’m invested in creating spaces where therapists can be fully human and express their authentic selves with other therapists, without judgement or shame.
-I believe we need each other to do this work, and I’m committed to reaching for and building community care spaces for therapists.
-I’m creating this because it’s something I want and need too, and I believe it’s a missing piece in our field and profession.

Arielle Johnson (they/she), LICSW
Community Song Leader, Nature Based Therapist
Hey, I’m Arielle/AJ!
-I'm an LICSW and a nature-based therapist specialized in serving queer and trans individuals. I feel incredibly lucky to get to do this work and it is not for the faint of heart, especially now.
-As a mindfulness practitioner and lover of retreats, I know the transformative power of getting out of our bubbles/routines and spending quality time with peers, surrounded by natural beauty.
-I'm thrilled to co-facilitate with Sarah and experience what might unfold. I hope you'll join us for this restorative opportunity to connect deeply and care for ourselves/each other.

Not at all. Some participants may know each other, but most will come solo. Part of the heart behind this retreat is creating genuine connections among people who might not have crossed paths otherwise.
-
Nope. This is not a training, workshop, or CEU event. It’s a gathering for therapists who want to step out of “professional” roles and into authentic community.
-
No — therapists from all backgrounds and work settings are welcome. If you resonate with the desire for deeper community with fellow therapists, you’re invited.
-
Yes! We have three private rooms that are available for folks who need a quieter space. Since the “shared” room options will potentially have up to 5 people, I recommend you choose one of the private rooms if you know you don’t sleep well with others.
I’m happy to talk through which options will help you feel most comfortable while on the trip - please reach out if you’re unsure!
-
This is a tricky one. To respect the sleep needs of others in the group rooms, if you know you tend to make noise when sleep, one of the private rooms would be the best option for you. I’m happy to talk through which options will help you feel most comfortable while on the trip - please reach out if you’re unsure!
-
Absolutely! We will have a private chef preparing food for us throughout the retreat. She can accommodate any dietary needs of the group and will generally prepare plant based meals.
Accomodations she can prepare:
Gluten free
Vegan & vegetarian
Dairy free
Any food allergies or sensitivities
You will be asked to include information about your dietary needs at registration.
Please reach out to me directly if you have any questions!
-
Yes! If you know another therapist who would love this kind of experience, feel free to invite them along. Just note that registration is per person and spots are limited to keep the group intimate.
-
We’ll send a full packing list before the retreat, but you can expect to bring cozy clothes, layers for being outdoors, and anything that helps you feel at home in a shared space.
-
We understand life happens. Please see below for our full cancelation and transfer policy.
Because this retreat is intentionally small and your registration reserves a spot that may be difficult to fill last-minute, the following cancellation terms apply:
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made on or before September 30, 2025 will receive a full refund for the cost of your deposit. We are unable to offer refunds for cancellations made after September 30, as we’ll have already committed to costs for lodging, food, and other retreat expenses.
We regret we cannot pay for any expenses, costs, or losses incurred by you as a result of you canceling your booking.
Transfers:
If you are unable to attend the event, we do allow guests to transfer their registration to another person with no transfer fees.
Your replacement will need to sign an agreement to take on registration and payment responsibilities, and will be subject to the above cancellation policy as well. Until they do so, you will be responsible for any fees incurred.
Should you need to transfer or cancel your registration, please contact Sarah as soon as possible at Sarah@laztherapy.com.
Minimum participants:
If the minimum number of participants for the retreat is not met by August 24th, we may need to cancel the event. In such circumstances, we will fully refund your retreat booking deposit and/or the full booking fee.
Facilitator Cancellation:
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule retreats due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control (e.g., extreme weather, natural disasters, or venue issues). In such cases: If we cancel, participants will have the option to transfer their booking to a future retreat or receive a full refund. If we reschedule, participants may transfer to the new date or request a refund if unable to attend.
We partner with third-party providers for accommodations. In the rare event that these providers cannot fulfill their commitments, we will make every effort to secure suitable alternatives. If no alternatives can be found, participants will have the option to move their booking to a future retreat.
In the rare case that we need to cancel the retreat for any reason (such as illness, weather, or venue disruption), you’ll receive a full refund.
We deeply appreciate your understanding — your registration helps us co-create this experience with care, intention, and commitment.
